Katarina Rasic (27.11.1987) is an artist from Belgrade, Serbia, working and living in Bangalore, India. Through travelling and experiencing new places, her art is constantly changing and developing new levels, exploring different ways of expression, through painting, installation and performance work. She graduated with a Masters in painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Katarina is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia.
Katarina has exhibited her work internationally. She was part of  the project Art Adda ( in collaboration with Jeetin Rangher and Bhuvanesh Kumar) , performance art intervention in broken spaces,  supported by The Indian Foundation for Art, through a Project 560, in 2014. In 2015 she started Dream Box, an ongoing performance art series in Sri Lanka and then continued in Belgrade. Currently she is working on a project Melting Pot – a traveling exhibition of 4 women artists.
In her artistic practice Katarina is exploring the ideas of belonging, tradition, female identity (different parts of her identity). Hailing form a country with a turbulent history and living on a different continent (India) Katarina’s cultural identity was formed as a blend of many different influences. She was born in Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which fall apart in 1992 and the Federal Republic of  Yugoslavia was formed, in 2003 it became Serbia and Montenegro, and  in 2006 just Serbia, so without changing the location she lived in 4 countries.  Therefore she never formed strong national identity, rather she feels as a melting pot of different cultures, costumes and ways of thinking and understanding, blending together in one personality. She finds concept of “home” and national identity particularly interesting topics to explore.
As the visual artist and the performance artist she is trying to mingle these two mediums, using her body to express concepts and then using canvas to bring out what the performance had brought to her.
Using symbols Katarina is telling her story, feelings, and memories; trying to mingle all these elements together in the complex configuration of her identity; assembled from bits and pieces of memories traced on her skin.
