Ebbert holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Pratt Institute and is currently working on two novels: Plain Paper Wrapper, a highly-illustrated middle grade novel; and Under Nether Sky, an ambitious tale of stories within stories that creates a complete mythology for a race of left-facing flounder from the ocean floor up. Ebbert is also working on a number of picture books with his wife Mison Kim, and an illustrated book of poetry called TOSS.
